Once the unit is properly installed, trim excess shims using a utility knife so they sit below the face of the metal frame. 2. Wipe down the metal frame with a clean, damp cloth to remove dust or debris. 3. Mild household cleaners may be used to remove grease or oil. Operable Handleset, Pin Hinges, & Installation Hardware Included 4. To install the cover strips, first locate the shorter of the three provided pieces and position on the top-front of the door frame. (These strips are used to cover up the seam between the interior steel door frame and existing door jamb and provide a clean look.) 5. Cut the strip to size to length, peel the double-sided tape and place accordingly. 6. Place the longer cover strips vertically just under the shorter horizontal cover strip and mark the excess length of the bottom of the cover strip and cut to size so they both fit flush against the door frame. 7. Install the two vertivcal cover strips by removing the backing from the double-sided tape and pressing one edge against the existing jamb then pressing the face firmly onto the metal frame. Simply remove your existing door slab and hinges while leaving the original door frame in place. The Modern Steel Door arrives fully assembled and ready to install. Insert the plastic jamb leg plugs into the bottom of each jamb leg and trim as needed to achieve the exact height for your opening. Once adjusted, stand the frame upright and slide it into the existing door frame. Secure the steel frame with the supplied fasteners, then hang the door on the pre-installed pin hinges.
